Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton make up the last two British F1 drivers’ world champions. While the former has just claimed his maiden title in 2025, the latter has broken numerous records in his journey to seven championships, the latest of which came in 2020.

After Norris claimed the drivers’ title at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton said that he was “really proud” of his fellow countryman, who he has seen grow from a rookie to a world champion in front of his eyes. Norris has also admitted on numerous occasions that Hamilton had been a source of inspiration for him growing up.
Now, after 152 race starts, Norris can finally sit at the same table as Hamilton, having become the 11th British driver to be an F1 world champion. So let’s take a look at how the statistics of the two drivers compare after 152 race starts.
Lando Norris vs Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton made his debut in 2007 and went straight on to compete for the drivers’ title in his rookie season. After just falling short, he came back and grabbed his first title in 2008. But his era of dominance in F1 began after a switch to Mercedes in 2013, after which he claimed six more titles from 2014 to 2020, completing one of the most dominant eras in the sport’s history.

Lando Norris, on the other hand, made his debut in 2019 with the same team as Hamilton, McLaren. By then, Hamilton was already a 5x world champion and had competed in 229 races.
So a much fairer comparison between the two would be to compare their stats after 152 races, the number Norris currently has.
Championships (1 vs 2)
Lando Norris won his maiden drivers’ championship in his 152nd F1 race start. While Lewis Hamilton had claimed two titles (2008, 2014) by the time his 152nd race came about in 2015.
Wins (11 vs 36)
Norris has claimed 11 race wins in his career, the first of which came in 2024. Hamilton, on the other hand, had already won 36 races by his 152nd race.
Podiums (44 vs 74)
Norris has stood on the podium on 44 occasions in his F1 career. After his 152nd race, Hamilton had secured 30 more podiums and sat on 74 in total.
Interestingly, the two drivers have only shared a podium on six occasions, despite being on the grid together for seven seasons now.
Poles (16 vs 42)
Norris has secured 16 pole positions in his 152 Grands Prix so far, 10 of which have come in the last two seasons. In comparison, Hamilton had already earned the pole position award 42 times by the 2015 Bahrain GP, which was his 152nd race.
Fastest Laps (18 vs 22)
Norris has completed the fastest lap in a race 18 times, while Hamilton has done this 22 times by his 152nd race.
Career Points (1430 vs 1579)
Lewis Hamilton also beats Lando Norris on the final metric, having scored 1579 points by his 152nd race, compared to Norris’ 1430. What makes this stat even more impressive is that the points scoring before 2010 only awarded drivers a maximum of 10 points for a race win.
